In 1984, guitarist Marlon “The Magician” McClain became an integral part of The Dazz Band, contributing his extraordinary talents for a combined total of 35 years. Marlon, a self-taught musician, has left a lasting mark on the music industry as a writer, producer, arranger, and performer. His credits include collaborations with En Vogue, Toni Braxton, George Clinton, George Benson, Jeff Lorber, Kenny G, Charlie Wilson, Christine and the Queens, and more.
Marlon’s musical journey began as the guitarist and co-founder of Portland, Oregon’s well-known group Pleasure. Apart from his role in The Dazz Band, he has a passion for nurturing new talent, evident in his work with artists like his niece Whitney McClain and his son Marlon II, also known internationally as “Brando,” featured on the hit “Body” with Loud Luxury.
