Episode 202 - Tobias Cortez

Tobias Cortez previously known as Prince T.C.H., The Singer, The Musician, The Artist, is a native of Como, North Carolina. It has always been his dream to share his love of singing with the world. His voice and powerful musical interpretation move and inspire audiences. A big believer in LOVE, Tobias supports real R&B music and believes that music can make a difference in the world.

Coming from a musical family, Tobias was destined to pursue a music career. His parents and grandparents taught him as a child many of the basic principles of music. He began singing and learning to play other instruments by ear and has since taught himself how to play piano, drums, and guitar. While in school, He had the opportunity to perform in Canada and sing in front of Terrence J, Tank, The Walls Group, Tye Tribbett, Avery Sunshine, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s son.

During the pandemic, Tobias performed for LL Cool J, Affion Crockett, J. White, Eric Bellinger, Avery Wilson, Karlton Humes, and even Wanya Morris of Boyz II Men. Prince T.C.H. was involved in a competition on Instagram called #WanWednesday hosted by Wanya Morris. He competed against 66 other contestants and made it to the Top 20.

While getting his undergraduate degree, Tobias started his own R&B/Pop Group called 3rd Lane. As Artistic Director and Lead Vocalist, the group won many local competitions and received recognition from peers all the way to the Mayor of Greensboro, NC.

Tobias is also the creator of “Make a Difference Artist Showcase”; a social media platform that gives other singers, dancers, musicians, artists, etc. the promotion they need to gain more followers and to showcase their talents.

Tobias holds a Bachelor’s of Music degree as well as a Master’s Degree in Digital Marketing & Advertising. He plans on advising other singers, musicians and artists on how to achieve success in the music industry.

In 2019, Tobias released his first EP entitled “Love and Hate” which received 1,000 streams in the first day! He is currently working on his second EP “Could This Be Love”.

He was a contestant on Season 20 of American Idol. Out of 100,000 singers who audition, Tobias had the opportunity to audition in Los Angeles in front of Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. During the audition, He received compliments such as, “You have the stardust”, “I admire the enthusiasm of your showmanship” and “I’m surprised he’s not a star already”. With these comments and his amazing vocals, Tobias received a Golden Ticket and headed to Hollywood. He made it through Genre Round and Duet Round. Tobias made an impact on his friends, family, students and community by making the Top 59.
