Emanuel Washington, known to many as “Eman,” is a versatile and dynamic drummer who has become a cornerstone of the Syracuse music scene. As a member of Sophistafunk, Skunk City, The Frank White Experience, and Grateful for Biggie, he has carved out a reputation for his powerful performances and dedication to community. Originally from Tennessee, Washington moved to Syracuse two decades ago and since then his rhythmic talent has resonated locally and nationally.

Emanuel’s work with Sophistafunk, a genre-defying trio blending funk, hip hop, and jam, has earned international acclaim, including serving as the house band for Guy Fieri’s “Guy’s Ultimate Game Night.” Sophistafunk’s high-energy shows, featuring Washington’s expert drumming and vocal talents, have taken the band to venues and festivals across the world.

In addition to his work with Sophistafunk, Washington is the founder and musical director of The Frank White Experience, an acclaimed tribute band to the legendary Notorious B.I.G. The band, celebrated for their authenticity, has shared the stage with Hip Hop icons like Lil Kim, Lil Cease, Junior M.A.F.I.A., Rakim, Styles P & more, solidifying their status as one of the premier tribute acts in the industry.
