Episode 28 - Reuben Lael

Known for his amazing voice, Reuben Lael uses his gift of song and music to amplify messages that bring hope and uplifts the soul. His EP “Heart of the Matter” is available on all digital outlets and his new album will be released soon. He’s performed as the opening act for various musicians; including Mint Condition, Dwele, Raheem DeVaughn, Eric Roberson, Chrisette Michelle, Erykah Badu and many more. He is highly passionate about youth, serving as the Creative Director for the Garland Youth Community Choir a 150+ vocal ensemble of youth ranging from ages 3-18 and has been featured on Good Morning Texas.
 
His single “STAND UP” was released in September with a likeness as a modern-day “What’s Going On” or “Change Is Gonna Come” providing motivation and inspiration to all persons and backgrounds. This song has a powerful message for all “I just can’t sit back no longer, lesson learned when I was younger”, says Reuben in his lyrics that reference a childhood born to parents who served in politics and the church. He penned this song as Call To Action for the current generation to stand up and be the change they want to see in America.
 
When Reuben isn’t singing, He works with non-profits and civic organizations in Dallas including his fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the Dallas Mayor Star Council as a member of the leadership team that connects and develops young leaders to design new pathway of change for Dallas. He is also a national board member for the National Urban League Young Professionals where he leads the communications team in branding their initiatives to support policy change, voter engagement, and community outreach.
