Episode 64 - Jerrod

Stephen Luster, better known as Jerrod, is an American Singer-Songwriter, Music Producer and Multi-Instrumentalist who taught himself to play the drums, guitar and piano.

Jerrod was born in Durham, NC and became immersed in music at an early age. His father was and currently is the lead soloist at the church of his upbringing. Jerrod’s father toured with the “The Luster Brothers”; a gospel group that rose to prominence in the early 70’s. His musical talents were nurtured by his father where they spent countless hours singing and playing various instruments. He held his first drumstick at 2 years old and became the drummer for the church youth choir at age 5.

During high school, Jerrod excelled as a point guard in basketball and landed lead roles in both The King and I and The Wizard of Oz, where he played the role of the Scarecrow. After receiving high praise for his acting prowess and persuasion from his classmates, Jerrod released a collection of video covers on YouTube. These covers were compiled into 2 self-produced mixtapes and released during his last semester of high school. Jerrod is currently preparing various studio projects and collaborating with different artists, as well as participating in “WanWednesdays” a virtual talent show created by Wayna Morris from Boyz II Men, every Wednesday at 8pm on Instagram.
