Episode 78 - JChosen

Joshua Hunter, known by his stage name, JChosen is a singer/songwriter/actor from Albany, Georgia. During his childhood days, his mother played Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye. His grandmother said during his birth, God’s angels touched his vocal cords. The ability to convert any song into a primetime karaoke moment provided ultimate validation of his gift.
 
JChosen’s love for basketball carried him during his college days. At the height of his collegiate basketball career, he suffered a career ending injury which suspended his basketball dreams indefinitely. During this period of disappointment, JChosen performed at an open mic session and the musical fire was re-ignited forever.
 
JChosen was featured on Season 12 of NBC’s The Voice and a member of Team Gwen. His blind audition of the Marvin Gaye song “Sexual Healing” turned all 4 chairs from the judges. Alicia Keys told him “Marvin Gaye is clapping from heaven and people DO NOT sing like you anymore”. She said “It’s a blessing to be in your presence and to hear true vocal vulnerability from a man.” His blind audition video, has over 2 million views, the most views of any contestant on Season 12 on The Voice’s YouTube page.
 
Since competing on The Voice, JChosen has opened up for R&B artists including Hi-Five, Mya, Tank and Jagged Edge. He has also filmed 2 movies. He plays Ace, the main character, in a movie called Pressure, and has a role in a short film called Project Heat.
 
JChosen is currently working on his 1ststudio album with some of the top producers in music and his 2020 single “So Blown Away” is available on all platforms.
